Yes, that would make sense. Except that: 1. you can't short within five days of an offering in which you are going to participate, and 2. it priced a few days ago at 6.50.
In my experience it seems compliance to such laws and rules it the exception rather than the rule. We shall see.
Piper Jaffray, BMO Capital Markets and Stifel are acting as joint bookrunning managers for the offering. SunTrust Robinson Humphrey is acting as lead manager and H.C. Wainwright & Co. is acting as manager for the offering.
If you hold accounts with any of these investment banks, and you are an accredited investor, you should be able to call and find out what happened to the offering. Otherwise, we wait for the company's press release.

I'd bet (a dollar) that the offering price got dropped. The company's Investor Relations department should be able to tell you if the offering was closed, and if so, what price it went out at. If it's not closed, they will probably not want to discuss the price negotiations going on just yet.
