I still have an album of Benny Goodman's band recorded there. It was in Catalina that Goodman first heard Lionel Hampton play and some great musical history was borne. In the late 30's it was one the hot spots for big bands ...I remember my Mom and Dad telling me about the ferry rides filled with people going to dance the night away.
