Intel 'Threadripper Killer' CPUs Coming In September: 14,16 And 18-Core Beasts Clocked at 4.4GHz

Has AMD's Threadripper met its match? Intel Has finally revealed its hand in the final high-end desktop CPU battle of the summer, showing the frequencies and cache amounts of its remaining Core i9 CPUs. They are set to be available from September 25th.
The flagship 18-core CPU, the Core i9-7980XE is to offer a base frequency of 2.6GHz, Turbo Boost frequency of 4.2GHz and Turbo Boost Max 3.0 frequency (that's up to two cores) of 4.4GHz. The CPU will have a colossal 24.75MB L3 cache.
Meanwhile, the 16-core Core i9-7960X sits at 2.8GHz/4.2GHz/4.4GHz for the base, Turbo Boost 2.0 and Turbo Boost Max 3.0 frequencies, and the Core i9-7940X, which offers 14 cores, is slightly faster at 3.1GHz/4.3GHz/4.4GHz. All three CPUs are due to launch in October.
The Core i9-7920X, which is due to launch on 28th August, has base, Turbo Boost 2.0 and Turbo Boost Max 3.0 frequencies of 2.9GHz, 4.3GHz and 4.4GHz. You can see all the specifications in the table below.
Meanwhile, AMD's Threadripper CPUs are just about to leap onto review sites to do battle with Intel's current flagship - the Core i9-7900X and I'm currently benchmarking the Threadripper 1950X and 1920X. All I can say is that they're fast. Very fast.
