Thanks for the feedback!

>>>I think you minimize the effect of an installed base. Isn't the large installed base of Zip drives one of it's features?<<<

Yes. In fact it is the most important *existing* feature. Iomega has done a wonderful job of accomplishing this. But I have no doubt that if Microsoft made the LS120 the Win98 emergency boot disk, Zip would sink faster than the Titanic. So Zip at boot disk is the most important goal for our Roy boys. (Poetic, not sexist)

>>>I believe with the introduction of the ATAPI Zip, they have increase their appeal to the OEMs and we should see more "Zip built in" in the future<<<

I agree. ATAPI was important because it meant that an internal Zip needed no interface card on a PC. It's the same reason that parallel port was important for external zip, and SCSI for Mac.

>>>One point I have to quibble about, though, is the idea that Iomega is a "startup." They've been in business for more than 10 years, and they're bringing in well over a billion a year in revenues at good margins. Hardly a mere "startup."<<<<

I concede this point. Iomega is not a startup, but their stock acts like one.

>>>Welcome to the thread . . . Have you been lurking?<<<

Thanks! Yes I have been following this thread for the past 5 months. The wealth of information available here is astounding! I particularly enjoy the TA discussions since I am terrible at timing.

Did you see that on TheStreet.com, Cramer mentioned that some big fund managers are frequent readers of SI.
