I just noticed that Worth's interview with MTSL's Jim McCamant is now available at the Worth site (http://www.worth.com). McCamant was asked about many Biotechs (the interview was entitled Biotechs: Boom or Bust? and was conducted at the end of July). LGND was mentioned a couple of times. The first was in response to a question about which Biotechs were most likely to produce blockbuster returns. McCamant indicated that those with a big pipeline were the most likely and he mentioned AGPH, LGND, ISIP, and ICOS. Later he was asked about the huge short position in LGND(which just topped the 3 million share mark last reporting period). He reiterated what has been posted here previously (that the short postion was largely held by ALRIZ hedgers), but he did indicate that there was a legitimate postion created when LGND's price ran up (however, thelegitimate position is probably small because there were 2.6 million shorts long before the the Spring price rise). I wonder if the Barron's writer on the fat baby boomers cover story (July 1) has had a chance to read the interview (he suggested that the short position on LGND had some significance other than the arbitrage play, which he never mentioned). McCamant also indicated that LGND was a good company, but difficult for investors to understand (unless of course they read this board :-)).
