I don't believe there is anything that compels the conclusion that Christ will return during our lifetimes. In fact, I don't believe there is anything that compels the conclusion that Christ will return within the next thousand years. Don't forget that the apostles also appear to have believed that Christ would return during their lifetimes. On the other hand, as far as I can tell, there is nothing that compels the conclusion that Christ will not return sometime relatively soon. I believe that we must be ever vigilent and live our lives as if he were going to return tomorrow but to plan our lives and ministries as if he will not return for another thousand years. Study of the end times is truly a worthy thing to do, but everything that is going on around us is not necessarily a "sign of the times."
