Providence Journel my local paper ran Year 2K story about state computers:

Year 2000 problem and hiring is getting more expensive because of the demand.

The state (RI) will spend 550,000 on the problem this year they will request 2.5 mill for next year and said they are not shure how big the contingincy fund needs to be until next spring.

Sounds like they should spend more now since it's cheaper and it has to be done anyhow.
