8/18/2017 Contest update
It was a week filled with horror and investors were no longer able to ignore the real world nor the surreal one in President Trump’s brain – both sides it seems. Ok, I’ll terminate my mini-vent with this message from the Terminator:
youtube.com
At Friday’s close, the Contest median was up 20.56% YTD (vs. up 23.58% YTD a week ago), the Nasdaq Biotech Index (NBI) was up 14.74% YTD (vs. up 15.82% YTD a week ago) and the smaller-cap S&P Biotechnology Select Industry Index (SPSIBI) was up 26.84% YTD (vs. up 28.19% YTD a week ago). The Nasdaq Composite Index (NCI) closed up 15.48% YTD (vs. up 16.23% YTD a week ago).
Despite a rough week, SMALLB’s portfolio, up 67.28% YTD, held on to the Contest lead. HRS’s portfolio, up 63.77% YTD, moved up to second place and ROBO’s portfolio, up 57.49% YTD, dropped to third place.
At Friday's close, 39 of the 48 Contest portfolios were in the green, with 29 beating the NBI and 18 beating the SPSIBI.
The 195 Contest portfolio stock picks have an average YTD gain of 12.62% and a median YTD gain of just 1.23%, with 100 of the 195 picks remaining up for the year.
Below is the Top Ten list. Also below are the Top 5 & Bottom 5 Stocks for the week ranked by % Gained and % Lost YTD. (Prices not converted to US$ in these Tables.)
Portfolio adjustments: None
(All corrections, especially adjustments for splits, greatly appreciated.)
Have a safe & relaxing pre-eclipse weekend biotechies!
Peace & good health,
Bulba
