re russia, i had dinner last night w/ a set of ukrainian brothers who call s.france home and does biz in the the homeland
they figure the 'war-lite' conflict shall carry on for 2-3 years more
gdp is being negatively affected
the two are passing through hk on way to attend a solar trade show / convention in shanghai, as electricity in the ukraines (50% generated by nuclear) is at US$ 0.16 per kilowatt-hr or some such high rate. they wish to put up a 100MW solar farm and engage w/ china infrastructure know-how.
re venezuela, one of my cousins who several years ago de-camped to colombia is now back in venezuela, to be engaging, if events work out i can visit
re china near-seas, only threat to civilian shipping appears to be usa navy, even as the asia pivot is being rammed one war ship at a time. at the current tempo, pacific ocean should be quite peaceful soon.
in the mean time delivery folks came from australia last night to hand-reliever goodies, but alas, they are stuck on hong kong north and i hong kong south. we are experiencing typhoon hato, everything locked down, stock market and banks and businesses and schools all shuttered for the day. the storm is still 100 km away but signal flag is already at the second-to-highest (#9) and likely shall be raised to #10, accompanied by heavy rain at 30 mm per hour and sea tide should be 1 meter higher than usual.
jack is having a happy no-school day. erita is not even bother to rise from slumber. our storm shutters are shut, and so should the electricity go out we would be in pitch darkness.
am expecting this below the minute typhoon flag drops to #3
apparently there are quite a bit nearer to you than to me
meant as a birthday present for the jack as he appreciates such more so than some adults i know of

that which was embodied in this ...

... and arose from here

jack had panned a few weeks ago near russia, and appreciates the hard work for a very few grains of real cash
