May be so, but you forget the Renminbi (Yuan) is sort of insulated from the rest of the world as this is not a 'free-floating' currency, therefore it is immune to the 'vagaries' of currency speculations,to a great extent. If a currency is not 'fully convertible' then the central bank can interfere to 'protect' it from outside forces.If the Yuan were a freely floated currency,the situation could be different, especially considering a lot of their banks are insolvent as we speak.

As for Hong Kong, their currency is directly pegged to the U.S dollar and they have enough foreign currency reserve, and a thriving economy to justify the present scenario.

Now if only they could buy some more Oracle software!.
