WHO IS ED YARDENI? He is well known even in Germany! Hi Cheryl, I have read a number of leading German weeklies; to get a feeling on the Y2K awareness in Germany (still desastrous). But: Leading German weeklies DO know Dr. Ed Yardeni! E.g: - In a late december edition of 'Der Spiegel', a leading liberal weekly, his contrarian opinion on Wall street was mentioned extensively. Interestingly, the main reason as seen by Yardeni (Y2K) was not mentioned at all (speaking of denial ;-)). - In 'Manager'Magazin of 1/1998 (page 141), about 1/2 a page is dedicated to the web site www.yardeni.com! Quote: 'Ed Yardeni, the chief economist of the DMG, is widely known for his very accurate prognosis on Wall street. With his prognosis, we was almost always right....before the course fall of last october he warned of 'overheating' of the markets...'. Again, no mentioning of Y2K as a cause for stock market crash in the coming 2 years (although you can read about it on his site). Not much progress to be seen in Germany on awareness; very little on TV; almost nothing in newspapers etc. Regards, John (SPOMW ;-))
