DEC v. UIS Please note that one of the main authors
of VMS (a DEC OS), Dave Cutler, has been at MSFT since
the late 80's with the mission of making PCs do what VAXs
have done for some time.
The word I hear from my snooty computer friends is that this
is all but achieved. NT is a gimme. Now there is a big stack
of $ to be collected as the rest of the world figures this out.
I'm not slamming DEC. I used to work on a VAX, pre Win 3.1, and
it was great. This was mid-eighties and that VAX cost ~$100K, I
believe. NT + a ~$4,000 machine now has more capacity.
Besides, DEC and UIS are kind of Apples and Oranges aren't they?
Here's the question: Is the world moving to VMS/Unix, or to NT?
Maybe it's just the coffee talking..

Where Unisys is concerned, it doesn't matter. They have them both covered. In fact, their new Server line will accomodate Unix running in a CPU concurrent with NT running in another. AND the apps will be able to communicate across a bus.
At least that is what I've read in press releases!>>

Tom, is this significant for TEAL?
