OK, will post this before anything else this morning. Power went out last night in our neighborhood, but came back on in the wee hours thanks to the good people who work for Centerpoint Energy. At least its not hot ... 71 right now. Rain is intermittent but it keep coming back. Raining right now, was raining hard a little while ago, wasn't raining earlier this morning. So there are breaks in the rain but it always comes back and is supposed to for several days per the forecasters. Wind is mild, like any normal rainstorm.

Normally storms come off the Gulf, pass over and head north - NE. This storm should have been through Dallas and Texarkana and headed for AR, OK, MO, Illinois by now. Happens all the time. But it's being blocked by a high pressure system north of us is the explanation.

Water in the street down at the low end of our street. No place for it to drain away. Another foot would put it at our door. Unbelievable. Saw a truck with a boat drive up and down our street, no doubt looking for a place to put it in the water. This wasn't it. If he'd stopped, I'd have told a good place to get in the water. I;m sure he figured it out. There are thousands of boat owners who are voluntarily going out taking flooded people to high ground and have been for days. Angels. Operating on their own dime out of the goodness of their hearts. What a wonderful bunch of people we have in this area.

Our area is pretty safe, we can get out to a few major streets, but if you go on those in any direction you run into high water on the road. So we're sort of stranded in a large area..Almost nothing is open, employees can't get to work, businesses can't get deliveries. Huh, someone just came by and told my wife the local McDonalds is open. And Krogers opened at 10 today. Usually they open at 5 am.
