CA tool: 'Does this change Yardeni's view of the future?'

<<
So my questions are really as follows:
- Is this software really as good as CA says?
- What are its limitations?
- Does this change Yardeni's view of the future?

Hi Jim!

Those are valid questions; here is what I think:

- indeed there is and will be progress in the quality of the tools provided. This will make it more easy for many customers to remediate code. However:

- as far as I know, this is a tool for COBOL only (perhaps some other languages; I did not read all the details of the CA tool yet).
But there are tons of code in other languages; that also have to be remediated (assembler; 4th generation languages; C, C++, X-Base etc etc etc).
- this is not a solution for embedded y2k problems. In many cases of embedded; systems will simply have to be swapped. The CA tool does not address the embedded issue at all.

So my bottom line:

It does NOT change Yardeni's view of the future. (alas :-(( )

Regards,

John
