I've noticed that too ... it'd be kind of heart-warming if y'all didn't hate each other so much the rest of the time.
As it is, I suspect it's a no atheists in a foxhole kind of thing ... nice to see, mind, but it would be nicer to see black lives matter all the time.
(And white lives, for that matter ... one of the striking things I saw was on Saturday or Sunday, when the first volunteer rescue boats were showing up. Some huge black guy about 25 or 30 was there with a couple of friends and a very sweet bass boat ... their passengers were mostly white, while another boat coming in, not nearly so fancy, was pretty much the opposite, white crew and black passengers, and I remember thinking, this is the best of America ... I got the feeling the guy was quite likely a pro athlete, fwiw, but didn't catch his name). |
