I agree with everything you said. The only exception is that I think the recovery could become stronger and keep going longer than maybe we think. The stock market is a leading indicator and makes the economy look stronger than it is.

Mnuchin is on record as saying he prefers no individual cuts. Bannon's idea was to simply increase the standard deduction a fair bit. This impacts more meaningfully as you go down the income ladder and doesn't mean squat to rich people. Bannon also was backing a 44% tax rate on all income over $5 million. So no wonder the fat cats worked to undermine him every way they could.
