If all Citibank customers suddenly go to the banks and withdraw their money, Citibank would have serious problem too. The problems in Asia seems to be caused by over-investment without sufficient reserve in US dollar. This situation is seen as an opportunity by someones. They suddenly take out US dollars from those problem countries and keep buying US dollar by shorting local currencies. These manipulators will benefit a lot. That's how the crisis in Asia originated. My opinion could be wrong.
