I think it highly likely that the vast majority of these shorts were simply arbitrage - people buying SQNA and shorting Arris. If this is the case, covering will have _no_ effect on the Arris price, as they will cover their Arris short position with the shares they get in the meger in exchange for their SQNA shares.
