No. I said they pay more when they have to pay more. A very different statement.

Actually I didn't even say that. I said companies pay more when they have to pay more. I didn't say anything about CEOs as such. (But its close enough since you wouldn't get company wide increases in pay, at least not beyond previously planned increases, or increases above an preexisting formula, without the CEO buying in to it.)
