Roger,
Re your explanation of '1 1/2 x 1 5/8, lot size 5 x 10', are all MM positions at those Bid/Ask prices counted in the 5 x 10 shown at Level I?

If it is not the sum, your example 'limit order to buy 5,000 shares at 1 5/8' may well find a total size of 50 at 1 5/8 already in place.

(I have been told that only the largest position is shown, but the occasional odd #s such as the current 1.500 Bid, 1.625 Ask, 5x47 argues for the sum.)

Bob
[edit] Note your reply to CB that 42 could be 1000 plus a limit order for 3,200 shares at 1 5/8--sounds possible.
