It's certainly possible for AOL management to respond to the
marketplace changes and prosper -- but they have to give up
their business plan to do so!

You mentioned the problem -- barriers to entry. Widespread
WWW dialtone (I'll call it "urltone") lets anyone become a
content provider, and the best content on the net wins. It's
a recipe for rapid evolution and services on the Web will soon
make what's available on AOL look sad. The idea that 100
million people would ever subscribe to AOL (unless it's the
way they get their TV!) is a pipedream.

And yes, I agree the stock price is overextended. By a lot.
