Regulated --- I repeat, regulated -- utilities are the foundation of my PFs... e.g., out of 37 positions total in my IRAs, 8 are regulated utes plus a position in TPZ (a CEF that only invests in regulated utility infrastructure), consumer defensives make up the bulk of the rest, with a handful of partial positions in CEFs for income boost in the short run, but likely will disappear in favor of more traditional DGI positions in a year or two or more when we begin turning on the income stream from my wife's IRAs.

Regulated utes are hard to beat for safety, reliable divvy payments and annual divvy increases.
