They won't live forever so the problem you speak of is very short lived (considering the life of a country).

The problem with entitlements is not solely one of the boomers. Its not even overwhelmingly a boomer issue. The problem will not end with the boomers death. Also the boomer part of the issue will contribute to the problem for a long time (and in an amount far greater then the other issues you raise in response).

Basically fiscal soundness is pretty much all about reigning in entitlement costs. Other factors can contribute but without reigning in those cost you can't' bring a good fiscal situation for the federal government.
