Tellabs to Supply MartisDXX Solution to BPL-USWEST Cellular
Network in India
LISLE, Ill., Jan. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Indian mobile network operator BPL-USWEST Cellular Ltd has selected the Tellabs
MartisDXX managed transport network solution for its GSM* digital cellular network. Under an initial U.S. $1.6 million
contract, the MartisDXX solution is being deployed throughout the operator's network in Maharastra and Kerala states. The
contract was awarded through Motorola India.
The MartisDXX cross-connect-based system will provide optimum use of 2Mbit/s leased lines in the BPL-USWEST GSM
network through real-time, end-to- end management, traffic grooming, consolidation, and hubbing. It will also provide for
BPL-USWEST distributed public network interconnection, and an internal voice and data transmission network. The initial
deployment phase is due to be completed this month.
