"Grace Hopper used to pass out wires about 11 inches long to illustrate what a nanosecond means to her classes when she gave lectures on computers. And Grace died some years ago."

My wife attended a talk at her IBM site back in the 1980's where Grace was the featured speaker, and she told me that Grace held up that very wire to make her point! She was an incredibly bright and interesting person. A true pioneer.
