Nokia Launches New 6100 TDMA Phones

HELSINKI (Reuters) - Finnish telecoms equipment maker Nokia said on Thursday it had launched two new TDMA handsets to complement its digital 6100 mobile phone series.

"The phones will be available in commercial volumes during the first quarter of 1998," it said.

The new Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) models incorporate the same features and longer talk and standby time as the Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) 6100 series phones introduced earlier.

Nokia said the new TDMA handsets were setting industry standards for talk time (up to three hours) and standby time (up to eight days).
