Xi has become one of the most vocal advocates for the Paris accord, a 2016 global climate change initiative championed by President Obama even after President Trump withdrew the U.S. from the deal this year. China — which is the biggest investor in renewable energy, even as it’s still the world’s biggest emitter of greenhouse gases.

China is playing semantics with its support of the Paris accord. It declared itself as an "undeveloped" economy under the agreement, which means it can change its climate goals at any time for economic development reasons. Also, as a self-defined undeveloped economy, it pledged ZERO Dollars to the $100 billion/per year goal of the Green Climate Fund to fund climate change projects around the world. China wants to be able to obtain financing from the fund, financed primarily by the US and EU.

Can't have it both ways. Want to be an international leech - so be it.

Want to be an international leader - then belly up to the bar and act like one.
