I agree with most of what you said. If we were serious about getting rid of illegals we could do it in about five minutes. Pass a law that says every business that hires an illegal is fined $1 million for the first offense, $2 million for the second, $10 million for the third etc. Within seconds every company that hires illegals would fire them.

So why doesn't it happen? First, it'd work. Second, businesses and states don't want it to work.

Half of all construction workers in Texas are illegal. The illegals keep construction wages significantly lower (about half) of where they should be. Why would Texas want higher wages and higher construction costs?

The entire debate is for children.

Fixing the problem is easy and no one wants it fixed.
