Actually, no. Most of those things were in Western cultures. Even then, there wasn't universal agreement. Things like the Earth not being flat was known to the ancient Greeks. Heck, they even had a good idea of the size of the Earth. Granted, after Christianity took over the Roman Empire, many of those things were ignored because it didn't conform to the contemporary interpretation of the Bible. But that is what happens when you let religion in control.
