9/15/2017 Contest update
InfoWarrior, Alex Jones, thinks White House turncoats have been spiking Trump’s Diet Cokes with drugs to make him appear demented. Equally plausible is that investors are being drugged with a substance that induces complacency.
Meanwhile, at Friday’s close, portfolio favorites FGEN (up 6.72% for the week) and TRIL (up 6.32% for the week) helped boost the Contest median to a sparkling 39.14% YTD gain (vs. up 34.56% YTD a week ago). However, the biotech indexes were little changed for the week, with the Nasdaq Biotech Index (NBI), closing up 25.24% YTD (vs. up 26.12% YTD a week ago) and the smaller-cap S&P Biotechnology Select Industry Index (SPSIBI), closing up 41.42% YTD (vs. up 41.60% YTD a week ago). The Nasdaq Composite Index (NCI) closed up 19.79% YTD (vs. up 18.15% YTD a week ago).
First place, SMALLB’s portfolio, widened its lead and is now up an astounding 96.89% YTD. IMAN’s portfolio, up 89.05% YTD, moved into second place and HRS’s portfolio, up 88.89% YTD, is close behind in third place.
At Friday's close, 45 of the 48 Contest portfolios were in the green, with 33 beating the NBI and 21 beating the SPSIBI.
The 195 Contest portfolio stock picks have an average YTD gain of 28.53% and a median YTD gain of 15.10%, with 116 of the 195 picks up for the year.
Below is the Top Ten list. Also below are the Top 5 & Bottom 5 Stocks for the week ranked by % Gained and % Lost YTD. (Prices not converted to US$ in these Tables.)
Portfolio adjustments: None
(All corrections, especially adjustments for splits, greatly appreciated.)
Enjoy a safe & relaxing September weekend biotechies!
Peace & good health,
Bulba
