or donate your own blood if you are having surgery

The ideal situation is not always doable.

After a case of the flu at Hopkins, my daughter a student, became very
ill. I received a 9 p.m. call from the hospital , she was in emergency
at Hopkins Hospital. Blood count was down to almost nothing.

We rushed to the Hospital------the Doctor told me we have no idea what she
has. They were transfusing her but washing the blood before they
put into her. No diagnosis was made------the Doctor was superb, for two weeks
he hovered with her as did her nurses and friends and of course parents.

They gave her a room overlooking the campus to inspire her healing. Yes
she did heal.
