I feel awful about this. I've recommended CCleaner over the years, and now I'm learning that people may have been put in jeopardy. Apparently, the malevolent code hitches a ride inside the CCleaner Installer. I never use ANY installed software if there is a Portable alternative available. CCleaner comes in a Portable configuration; hence, no installation or installer are needed. Here's a link that may be useful. . . piriform.com Clicking this link will cause the latest version of CCleaner to be downloaded. It arrives packaged in a .ZIP file. When you Un-Zip it, you'll get the Executables for both 32-Bit and 64-Bit, as well as a Sub-Folder of Language files. (If you use U.S. English, simply delete the entire "Lang" Sub-Folder.) As well, you get License and Version text files. They are not necessary either. The "Short" story is that you only need one file, the CCleaner.EXE (or CCleaner64.EXE) to use the program. Cheers, PW. P.S. Current Windows systems can Un-Zip files by Right-Clicking on them and selecting "Extract All..."
