Hi JD, My sources in Indonesia tell me that the COWS will be issued in tranches and not all at the same time. Those companies like Antares who have fulfilled their work committments will be at the front of the line.

I am also told that it will not be the end of the world if Suharto doesn't stay on. His power base is the military and they are still the dominant force in Indonesia. I think we are witnessing the worst here as markets tend to anticipate events quite accurately. Once the uncertainty over Suharto's successor is cleared up life will go on in Indonesia.

Whoever succeeds Suharto will have to be pro-business given the nature of the global economy. Unless some ultra-nationalist succeeds Suharto, foreign companies should be treated as they are now or better.

best wishes
