You should really talk to Doug Bellanger at GLR, to get a balanced view of the status of the venture. I understand he has, in fact, talked to Carson, but not perhaps fondly....
In Wednesday's article Carson states that "a Venezuelan House of Representatives Committee has been asked to investigate ....." As the House is not currently in session and I am not aware of any standing committees, it begs questions around exactly who has done the asking, what committee has been asked and how???. After all, you or I could write a letter to President Caldera asking that a committee investigate,..., then we could truthfully report the same sensational story.
As to the 30 days, had Carson realized/indicated that Venesuelan law requires 30 BUSINESS days, perhaps there would be less of a story.
I understand GLR's alluvial rights do not expire until 2008, so i find it difficult to take the forfeiture issue seriously. Incidently, KRY's alluvial rights at Albino expire in March, which could be of far more significance to that play.
As for GLR responding, I understand Carson is not an accredited reporter. Any formal response to internet gossip is not warranted and could be misleading. I do agree that the company must be responsive to direct questions from shareholders and my experience is that it is and continues to be.
I'm certainly no expert, but given that the abundance of inference, the absence of support, any my experience to the contrary, it's my opinion that in this case at least, Mr. Carson is simply not letting the facts get in the way of a good story.
