Andy, Here's the post from the cancer board. Doesn't say how patient is doing, but Melanoma is not listed on the cheat sheet for Targretin:
Doyle,
My husband Sy has courageously battled cancer for over a decade. He has had ocular melanoma for 2 yrs and has had enucleation surgery at Wills/Philadelphia in JAN 1996, and isolated liver perfusion operation for the mets, at NIH/Bethesda in FEB 1997. He has survived this long and is still battling the disease. This week, he just started on a brand new drug protocol, Targretin, for Stage IV melanoma patients at M.D. Anderson/Houston. The wonderful doctors there think he is a walking miracle because the initial prognosis for this disease, with mets to liver, is @ 6 months liver. Over the past 10 years, he has also done battle with TCC of the bladder, and had it successfully treated by a wonderful urologist at Johns Hopkins.
I will share with you how he has kept up his survival, enjoying each day as it comes, and buying time hopefully, until there is a cure: |
