While I no longer ski(bilat metal hips), I decided to pick up some shares in SKIS @ $4.25 today.
Never been a huge fan of these ski area operators, but Peaks has gotten a bit more interesting. Note a hedge fund bought out Intrawest (IDR) awhile back, so there is some interest out there. Peaks has gotten involved in the EB-5 program and scoring $52M in the process, proceeds going into snowmaking ($32M) and a new base lodge. They are in talks with the Feds to start and be their own EB-5 regional operator (the state of VT's got shut down after the SEC got involved in a massive fraud case involving another resort area. Ponzi scheme!) They want to raise more (free) EB-5 money and start developing their real estate, read condos. This is a first for them and where the money is made. There is high demand for the EB-5 program, no lack of investors.
Not much of a play on their financials, but imo could be a decent play into Christmas.
Heck, it pays a divy to boot! (ha,ha).
They also bought Hunter mountain last year in NY state, a smart move imo and showed in it's revenue contribution. A good cross selling move.
