Kenneth:

I used to sell Mitsubishi's embedded ram technology. The one biggest problem was (is) that by combining asic and ram processes the die size was about 40% larger than the sum of the 2 independent devices. This was because process compromises had to be introduced to allow asics to be merged with Drams and Srams. As a result the embedded die was always higher pricewise than the individual components.

The reasons customers bought into the embedded technology were
1. extreme space limitations. 2.need to reduce the pin count 3. performance (usually in that order)

Reason 1 and 2 don't fit well for the graphics add in cards or the motherboard. Reason 3 might be interesting except AGP designs will take most of the designs for 1998. ALSC will have to have some dynamite performance benchmarks.

I think the management will need to be a little more definitive in their future product plans.
