NVDA, take a look at your data from 6/16. Next year EPS est was $1.59 - a dollar shy of the 2017 figure in the chart you just posted. Future EPS numbers started rising and continue to inch forward. The next year PE figure would have been 18 vs the 29 shown below and the 2017/$2.57 figure is over 60% higher. The rising expectations combined with actual performance that has greatly exceeded estimates is a reason why the street can try to "justify" their high price targets. It's understandable to question the valuation metrics when forward EPS for 2 full years out requires a PE of 35 to reach $175. At the same time, if they continue to exceed expectations anywhere near what they've done in the past, the $4.95 figure for 2020 may not be adequate. We shall see....
