No, because you are betting on WDC to win, while Bain is betting on WDC losing.

All of these companies that have joined the Bain consortium feel like they can make a good deal regardless of WDC's legal challenge.


Actually, not. Its making a bet, which is unlikely to payoff, but because of the potential payoff it is a good bet nonetheless. Think overlays in horse racing - a horse may have a 1 in 4 chance of winning, but if its paying 7 to 1 its a good bet. There is a difference between confidence and calculated risks.

what in the hell WDC did to create what appears to a deep seated hatred by Toshiba.

They offended their culture by placing contracts over relationships. And they were protecting stockholders in the process, as they should.
