Del,

One reason for the lower price on Monday on higher volume may have been a newspaper article I came across today. In last Sunday's New York Times, on the front page of the first section, located in the top half, in color, was a photograph of an Odwalla Apple Juice bottle. There was a long article discussing what went wrong at Odwalla in late 1996 when the e-coli disaster hit, specifically a major breakdown of quality control; the use of rotten apples without pasteurization. The article also discusses the trend towards general fruit juice pasteurization, and was enlightened enough to discuss the apparent lack of a need to do so for fruit juices that do not have their skins included in the fruit juice making process (for example, oranges). No other juice company was mentioned in the article.

Another item came out today. After the close today Odwalla reported their best quarter since the disaster, narrowing their quarterly loss to 3 cents.
