Greg - Re: "price drops were not according to Intels plan as they
would have you beleive. Their running Perinoide. "

You're right - but the price cuts are part of Intel's NEW plan!

Re: "Compaq has all but abandoned Intel others
will follow they have to. "

Compaq offers a wide variety of PCs with Intel CPUs - their ENTIRE DESKPRO line is made up with 100% Intel chips:

compaq.com

Count them, Greg - there are 14 Models - using ALL Intel Pentium MMX chips from 166 to 233 MHz and Pentium II from 233 to 300 MHz.

You also neglect 100% of Compaq's SERVER line of ProLIANT servers - every one with one two or four Pentium Pro or one or two Pentium II chips inside! And servers represent the most profitable and fastest growing segment of Compaq's business. Believe me - Intel is getting more than $89 for each of these CPUs:

compaq.com

Similary, Compaq's ENTIRE LINE of WORKSTATIONs is based on 100% Intel CPUs - again Pentium Pro and Pentium II chips:

And all of Compaq's ARMADA line of notebook computers use Intel Mobile Pentium processors - you know - the notebooks with Thin Film Displays for people who want the best! On Monday, Compaq will introduce their newest 266 MHz Pentium MMX Notebook PC - NO AMD chip in their best machine, greg!

Your misconception of Compaq's business is understandable - since you clearly haven't studied Compaq very well!

Paul
