One party can't raise taxes. What happens when Democrats stop raising taxes or the debt ceiling? Your world comes to an end. The world will see how worthless the republican party is.

If I were in office I'd remind my fellow Democrat and republican officeholders that Democrats keep the country going and without our votes, the US defaults on the debt. Then I'd bargain away to tax cuts and demand massive tax increases. The era of tax cutters would come to an end OR the US defaults on the debt.
