This thread is a great idea. If successful, it would combine an elegant discussion of international finance with the nuts and bolts of currency trading on futures markets. I am trained as an economist, but have no background in finance and would love the opportunity to learn more about the EMU situation. Having someone available to talk to about futures trading would also be a big plus.
Unfortunately, the lack of response suggests that, on both counts, the pool of potential participants is small. I have tried to recruit a couple of economists, people familar with the EU and the policy debates going on there, but they balk at the $125 sign-up fee. None that I know are trading, and thus far I haven't persuaded them to consider "speculating" on what they know.
To repeat--even if the thread doesn't go anywhere--it was, IMHO, a splendid idea. It put something on my radar screen that I was quite unaware of. Many thanks.
