I believe your numbers are too high. Remember capacity is 14 million of ALL types. Only ATAPI drives are put in IBM compatible OEM machines and I don't believe IOM can make enough of them to penetrate 10% of the market.

Someone asked when I posted last to give the price of the ATAPI drive. They cost us $99 each in quantities of 5 from TECH DATA. And I was mistaken, they do not come with a zip disk. The tools are on cd and they do not require a driver. WIN 95 OR2 automatically recognizes the ATAPI drive when it is installed. It is this reason that they are so wonderful for the OEM. They do not even have to be put in the cmos like a floppy. I would imagine any manufacturer that buys in huge quantities directly from IOM pays $60-70 for the drive. I know we don't stock the aftermarket drive because there is no margin for the seller at all unless he buys in big quantities directly from IOM.

We are getting requests for the internal drives in almost half our boxes and we have made it an option on our price sheet. Demand and recognition are way up compared to six months ago.
