Windows Update Gripe:

Every serious software problem that I have experienced has been related to a Windows update.

After a Windows 7 update back in April, my computer screen started scrolling after being turned on for a few minutes. I spent 2 months trying to fix the problem without any success. Recovery points were wiped out and I could not restore from a 2 month old backup ("wrong version of windows" message). I let Microsoft connect to my computer and they could not see or fix the problem and suggested that it was a hardware problem. Rather than send it to Dell for repair I took it to the Geek Squad to save on shipping costs. They had it for a month and installed a new monitor, but when I took it home the problem continued so I took it back to them. After another 2 months they decided that they could not repair it an offered me a new replacement computer. Since I had already given them $600 for the new monitor I decide to accept their offer, and got a new HP all-in-one Windows 10 computer to replace my Dell all-in-one Windows 7 computer. This was more than fair, since I did not originally purchase the computer from them. I still believe that this problem was caused by the Windows update and was not a hardware problem.

Today a new Windows 10 update was applied to my computer and after the update the wireless keyboard stopped working. I originally thought that the battery in the keyboard needed replacing; but the battery is sealed inside of the keyboard and is not something that I can replace. Luckily the keyboard can also be connected to the computer by an optional USB cable. I called HP support and they connected to my computer and was able to get the wireless keyboard working again by resetting the keyboard and updating the drivers. Now it is working again.

Needless to say I HATE WINDOWS UPDATES!!!.

Sorry; but I just had to vent!
