- USA is the most litigious country in the world. Drs over service and recommend every possible test to cover their butts. Expensive$$$ I won't argue that. The biggest contributor to medical costs here is government intervention. If Medicaid/Medicare were independent of the private healthcare system we would have comparable rates to elsewhere and still have the incentives to develop the world's greatest medical innovations. Deregulating the market will also reduce the insurance companies' piece of the pie due to competition. It's basic economics.
