Gold Star Widow Tells CNN She Did Not Receive Promised Call from Trump by Josh Feldman | 3:42 pm, October 18th, 2017
Whitney Hunter, a Gold Star widow whose husband Jonathon Hunterwas killed in Afghanistan, said on CNN this afternoon she was told she would be receiving a call from President Trump, but the call never came.
Hunter told Brianna Keilar that she did meet with Vice President Mike Pence, who spoke with her and was “very genuine.”
She was informed she should expect a call from the President but “I never received the phone call.”
And while Hunter did not say anything critical of Trump, she expressed her disappointment:
“I don’t like that I was told that I would received the phone call but then I never did. I don’t have anything negative to say directly about the President, but my husband died for our country. He died for our nation, in defense of our nation, and I don’t want that to have been in vain… I don’t have anything negative to say about our President, but I do know the difference between right and wrong, and whenever you say you’re going to do something, you’re supposed to do it.”
She also got personal in talking about what a great man her husband was. “I married a hero,” Hunter said.
