Computers compatible with the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update ...

The Fall Creators Update is now available for download. Before you hit the upgrade button, make sure that your computer is compatible with this OS version. For the time being, however, only three computer manufacturers [Dell, HP, Samsung) have updated their list of devices supporting the Fall Creators Update. For more information about the computer models compatible with Microsoft’s latest OS, check out the list in this article ...

windowsreport.com

• Dell's list of computers tested with the Fall Creators Update without triggering any major issues is here:http://www.dell.com/support/article/us/en/19/sln297954/dell-computers-tested-for-windows-10-fall-creators-update-and-previous-versions-of-windows-10?lang=en

• HP's list of computers tested with the Fall Creators Update¹ without triggering any major issues is here: support.hp.com

¹ Note: Recently HP stated that they did not test any of their computers manufactured before 2013 with the original (v 1703) Creators update and while they don't now state it I doubt that anything has changed.

Before considering downloading the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update make sure you backup your system. I do a system backup (The C: drive and MBR) every Sunday evening and a Full Disk and Partition Backup once per month.

It is also worthwhile to check with your system's manufacturer support arm to make sure all drivers are up to date.

This is what Dell Support provided me with after running their online detection tool and similar should be available from your systems manufacturer:

My Dell Inspiron 3847 with 8GB RAM (expandable) currently running Windows 10 Home (x64) Version 1703 (build 15063.674) sports an older 4th generation 3.20 gigahertz Intel Core i5-4460 with integrated graphics and handles all tasks including relatively intense image editing quite well. It should handle most aspects of the Fall Creators Update well but won't handle Mixed reality even with a RAM upgrade.
