Socrates died in 399 BC and is revered today as the greatest philosopher that ever lived. I doubt there will be any record of you in 2416 years. He also makes the worse to be the better argument; and he teaches these things to others.” Another charge brought forth later by Melitus was as follows: “Socrates, it says, acts unjustly, corrupting the youth; and not believing in those Gods in which the city believes, he introduces other novel daemoniacal natures.” A democracy, if you attach meaning to terms, is a system of unlimited majority rule; the classic example is ancient Athens. And the symbol of it is the fate of Socrates, who was put to death legally, because the majority didn’t like what he was saying, although he had initiated no force and had violated no one’s rights.
