I did not discuss the transition from 5.25 to 3.5 because the point of my post was that the transition from 3.5 would not be to Zip, but to CD/Internet/Zip. That makes the current situation fundamentally different from the 5.25==>3.5 change that happened 5-7 years ago.

Having said that, I agree with your entire post.
